DOWNHAM VILLAGE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY LANCASHIRE

Meeting and photographing new and interesting people is one of the main things I love about shooting weddings. Seeing and discovering new places is another reason. David and Emma’s Downham Village wedding included both of these elements which made for an incredible day.

David and Emma, the beautiful, fun and smiley couple that they are, invited me along to their wedding in the stunning hidden gem that is Downham Village in Lancashire. The Village is situated at the foot of Pendle Hill just down the road from Clitheroe. It is quaint and largely unspoilt. There are no overhead wires, yellow lines on the roads or satellite dishes on the houses. It is a beautiful little village and it was a privilege to have spent a day there capturing the simply stunning wedding of David and Emma.

WEDDING IN DOWNHAM VILLAGE

After an hour or so with David and the groomsmen on the morning of the wedding, I head off to Emma’s parents home at the other end of the village. Their house is beautiful, very idyllic and fitting with the surrounding environment. Emma and her Bridesmaids had a fun morning of pampering before getting in their dresses and making the short(ish) walk across the village to St. Leonards church. I followed along documenting this wonderful part of Emma’s day, greeted by village locals along the way.

After a lovely service, their guests were ushered to the drinks reception on the open grounds next to the church. I managed to borrow the newlyweds for a few minutes to allow them some time to themselves. Then, after a confetti line along the church path and a local tradition of dropping coins over the church gate for the local youths we all made the short journey to the town hall for their wedding reception.

The rest of the day was filled with laughter, dancing and plenty of drinking. This was such a good wedding from start to finish.
