Tuscany Wedding Photography
This was a wedding I had been looking forward to for some time! I love Italy and Tuscany has always been on my bucket list so when Rich and Lise got in touch with me about their Wedding in Tuscany you can imagine the excitement.
Day-Before Pizza Party
I arrived in the heart of Tuscany in the middle of a heatwave excited to meet up with Rich, Lise and their wonderful guests. Driving my little hire car through the dusty tracks in the Tuscan Hills I had to stop myself many times to take in the incredible scenery.
The evening before the Wedding I arrived at the wedding venue, Tenuta di Sticciano to hang out and photograph the ‘Pizza Party’. This was a gathering of the guests to get everyone relaxed and introduced ahead of the main event. It was lovely hanging out with everyone and getting them used to me and my cameras. It was lovely to catch up my good friend and the fabulous Paul Guard who had also made the journey over to Italy from the UK to sing and entertain the guests. As the sun set I left them all to their evening before heading back to my temporary Tuscan home to get ready for the big day ahead.
Bridal Preps at Tenuta di Sticciano
The day of the Wedding was as hot, if not hotter than the day before. Averaging around the mid to high 30’s the heat was certainly going to make this challenging. Luckily my little hire car had solid air conditioning which gave me some respite from the heat.
My first stop on the Wedding day was back up at the wedding venue, Tenuta di Sticciano where both Bride and Groom were getting ready for the day ahead. Rich and Lise were kept apart by their bridesmaids and groomsmen and luckily the estate was big enough for this not to be a problem.
Rich and the boys welcomed me and I got some photos of them cooling off in the pool before heading in to their apartment to get ready.
Lise was multitasking mummy duties and getting ready and it was lovely to hang out and document this time for them. Once ready I shot off ahead of Lise to Certaldo Alto where their wedding ceremony was planned to take place.
Wedding Ceremony in Certaldo Alto
Certaldo Alto is a perfectly preserved medieval walled town. To get up to it there’s an option to walk or take the more popular funicular, which in this heat was a no-brainer! I met Lise at the bottom and travelled up with her and her entourage before making the short walk through the quiet streets to the Palazzo Pretorio where the civil ceremony was performed. Rich and Lise had mentioned they wanted to do a no-look hand-hold before the ceremony, which we set up right outside the wedding hall. The wedding ceremony was held in the open courtyard and was stunning. It was mostly in shade which was very much welcomed by all of the wedding party and guests.
Once the ceremony was complete the guests set off back to Tenuta di Sticciano ready to welcome the newlyweds. I held back with Rich and Lise to spend 20 minutes around the Palazzo Pretorio and the streets of Certaldo Alto to create some beautiful portraits of the new Mr and Mrs.
Wedding Photography in Tuscany, Italy
Happy to be back in my car with the aircon on full whack I made the 20 minute drive back to the wedding venue, through the rolling Tuscan hills. Back at the venue Rich and Lise were welcomed by their guests and lots of insanely good local food! On arrival the legendary Paul Guard was there entertaining the wedding guests with his soulful tones. The drinks were well and truly flowing by now and following the drinks reception the guests took their seats in the spectacular setting of an outdoor wedding breakfast ready for the speeches.
Tuscan Sunset
After the wedding breakfast had concluded and Rich, Lise and I had taken in the glorious Tuscan sunset the party got in to full swing. All of the elements of this wedding came together for Rich and Lise and it’s safe to say that Tuscany is now one of my favourite places on Earth.
Filming the wedding was the very talented Matthew Laraway. It was awesome to meet and work alongside him on the day.
It was so hard selecting just a few photos for this blog post but I think I have narrowed it down the best I could. These are some of my favourite photos from Rich and Lise’s Tuscany Wedding.
If you are planning a Wedding in Italy then I’d love to hear from you!
