2017 WEDDING HIGHLIGHTS
Looking back through my weddings from 2017 was a brilliant reminder of what a cracking year it has been. Filled with moments of laughter, beauty and pure emotion. I have always strived to better myself as a photographer by hunting for moments and trying to capture emotion in my images. For me documenting weddings has been always been about enjoying what I do. If I can tell a story for my couples whilst shooting moments that make me smile then I'm doing a good job. Real moments are the heart and soul of every wedding.
Looking through the weddings I shot in 2017 and trying to narrow down all the thousands of images I took was so hard. The following 200 images are just some of my favourites from 2017. They may not be perfect but each one makes me smile, either from the moment, the people or the memory of where and when it was taken.
Another top year. Here's to 2018.
Gibbon Bridge Wedding Photography - Ste and Sharon
STE AND SHARON'S GIBBON BRIDGE WEDDING
Ste and Sharon's Gibbon Bridge wedding was a joy to be a part of. This was my first experience of photographing a wedding at Gibbon Bridge. It's a stunning venue just outside of Clitheroe, set in vast acres of gardens and grounds. I found it very fitting that it hosted the wedding of such a lovely couple.
The day was packed with all the good stuff you'd expect from a wedding along with some added extras such as pigs, an outdoor ceremony that almost didn't happen outdoors and the legend that is The Tall Toastmaster.
Samlesbury Hall Wedding Photography - Tom and Siobhan
TOM AND SIOBHAN'S SAMLESBURY HALL WEDDING.
Tom and Siobhan were married at the historic stately home Samlesbury Hall in Lancashire. I do love shooting here, the setting is simply stunning and wonderfully intimate. Mix this with gorgeous pockets of light and picturesque grounds and you've got one hell of a wedding venue.
Tom and the boys were on fine form in the morning, where I started out, with beers, bacon butties and plenty of banter. I arrived at Samlesbury to meet up with Siobhan and her girls where they were getting ready for the day ahead.
Laughter, tears, alcohol, music and dancing followed to make such an awesome wedding.
Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding Photography - Jonathan and Katie
JONATHAN AND KATIE'S WEDDING AT SANDHOLE OAK BARN, CHESHIRE.
Sandhole Oak Barn is one of those venues that seems to have evaded me over the years. I have been excited to shoot here for some time and what a wedding this was to pop my Sandhole cherry. Jonathan and Katie are so lovely and have such a great bunch of people surrounding them.
SANDHOLE OAK BARN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Set in the stunning Cheshire countryside Sandhole Oak Barn is such an incredible wedding venue. I was lucky enough to spend the day here capturing Katie and Jonathan's Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding.
Drinks flowed, the weather was more than kind and a there was plenty of laughter and particularly bad dancing. Mix this with serious amounts of love, a killer venue and some ridiculous skills from the North Wests top DJ - Andy Murphy and you've got one hell of a wedding!
Springfield House Hotel Wedding Photography - Chris and Elizabeth
CHRIS AND ELIZABETH'S WEDDING AT SPRINGFIELD HOUSE, LANCASHIRE
My second ever wedding was at Springfield House in Pilling, back in 2009 and I haven't been back there since. I was excited to be back there for Chris and Elizabeth's Spring wedding at Springfield House earlier this year.
I had originally met this lovely couple at Elizabeth's sisters wedding a couple of years back and was honoured and excited when they got in touch to do their wedding photography. Chris and Elizabeth are so down to earth, I just knew this wedding was going to be a good one!
My day started at their home in Bispham where they were getting ready together with some friends. It's becoming more popular for Bride and Grooms to start the day getting ready together before splitting off to get dressed. I like it as it gives them more of the day together but still allows for the impact of seeing each other, all dressed and ready, for the first time at the 'alter'.
SPRINGFIELD HOUSE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Springfield House is a quaint country house in the beautiful Lancashire countryside. It is a gorgeous setting for intimate weddings. Chris and Elizabeth were married in the conservatory on a beautiful spring day. There was serious amounts of fun, laughter, drinking and dancing with the awesome Keytars providing some immense live music.
Great Hall at Mains Wedding Photography - Andrew and Jacinta
ANDREW AND JACINTA'S WEDDING AT ST JOHNS CHURCH AND THE GREAT HALL AT MAINS, LANCASHIRE
The first time I met Andrew and Jacinta I instantly warmed to them. Not only are they a ridiculously beautiful and smiley couple but just two of the loveliest people you're likely to meet. Saying all that it was such an honour to be chosen by them to capture their beautiful wedding at Mains Hall.
GREAT HALL AT MAINS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
After spending the morning with Andrew and his Groomsmen at the awesome accommodation at Mains Hall I head to meet up with and document the girls and Jacinta at her parents house. The mood was relaxed from the start of the day and the smiles were as prominent as ever.
After a beautiful wedding ceremony at St. Johns Church, Andrew, Jacinta and their guests made their way down the road to The Great Hall at Mains, one of Lancashire's finest wedding venues.
Entertainment was provided by the awesome Bamboo Fontaine and it was awesome working alongside Jon Bird Wedding Videographer.
Ambleside Wedding Photography - John & Liz
JOHN AND LIZ'S LAKE DISTRICT WEDDING IN AMBLESIDE
John and Liz were married at the The Waterhead Hotel in Ambleside. This boutique Lake District hotel was such a perfect setting for their intimate winter wedding. The Lake District is one of my favourite places so having the opportunity to discover new venues and locations is a real treat.
WINTER WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Driving up to the Lakes on the cold winter morning, with the rain pouring, I thought that we were in for another wet day in The Lakes. Even in the rain this cumbrian beauty spot feels special. It's often said that The Lake District has it's own micro-climate and rain can come and go in minutes. It was no different on John and Liz's wedding day for as soon as I arrived at the award winning boutique hotel the rain submitted to gorgeous clear skies.
After meeting up with John and his entourage in a nearby pub I head over to meet up with Liz and hers at the hotel. I love the preps in the morning as not only do they let some of the key players of the wedding get used to me being around and know that they don't need to pose and look for the camera but it makes for great opening chapters in the story of their day.
This beautiful intimate winter wedding in the stunning English Lakes was a pleasure to be a part of and was filled with many happy memories of such a wonderful couple and their family and friends.
Merewood Wedding Photography - Mark & Emily
MARK AND EMILY'S LAKE DISTRICT WEDDING AT THE MEREWOOD COUNTRY HOUSE HOTEL
This was my first visit to The Merewood Country House Hotel and I'd been looking forward to it for some time. I kind of already knew Mark and Emily after shooting both Emily's brother's wedding and her sisters wedding over the last few years. Emily was the hat-trick and what a way to round off a family of weddings!
I absolutely LOVE the Lake District! Even when it's rainy and windy, which it is the majority of the time up there, it still holds a breathtaking beauty.
The Merewood is located in Windermere and is situated up on a hill overlooking the beautiful Lake Windermere. It is such an idyllic setting for a wedding.
Mark and Emily spent the whole day at The Merewood, and I was there to capture the memories for them throughout. It was so lovely catching up with 2 sets of my past Bride and Grooms and spending the day with such a lovely bunch of humans.
