Cragwood Wedding Photography
Joel and Catherine’s wonderfully wet wedding at the Cragwood Country House in The Lake District provides yet more evidence as to why I love photographing these celebratory days. The Cragwood is one of my favourite wedding venues in the Lake District. It is slight in terms of space but grand in every other sense making it an idyllic setting for micro-weddings, elopements and small intimate weddings. It has bags of character and boasts breathtaking views of Lake Windermere giving it the perfect setting for a wedding.
Anyone who has visited the Lake District will know that you can expect rain at any time throughout the year. It is renowned for it’s wet weather yet that never seems to dampen the mood when visiting. Joel and Catherine were married in the depths of the summer holidays but this is never a guarantee for good weather, as they certainly found out. It was a rainy day for sure but this did nothing to diminish the spirits of them and all of their guests. This day was brimming with smiles and laughter!
Micro-Wedding at The Cragwood
The wedding of Joel and Catherine was what I would class as a micro-wedding. Basically meaning only a handful of carefully selected close friends and family are in attendance. Micro-weddings are always so heart-warming to be a part of as I really have to fit in, even more than larger weddings, in order to become the invisible presence I strive for so as to capture the real moments of the day.
This wedding at Cragwood started with Joel and Catherine getting ready separately before saying their vows in front of their loved ones. Drinks followed and after a small break for afternoon tea (and a quick outfit change) the newlyweds made the short walk, under the cover of brollies, down to the jetty to the awaiting boat for their lake cruise.
What a day this was and such an honour to be a part of!
If you are planning a Wedding in the Lake District then I’d love to hear from you!
