James and Holly’s Marquee Wedding in Lancashire

The sun was certainly shining for James and Holly’s marquee wedding. I arrived with James and his groomsmen, at his parents house in Tarleton, early in the morning. After a substantial breakfast the boys took to the garden for a kick-about and a bit of cricket before heading back inside to make the transformation to Groom and Groomsmen.

A short drive away Holly and her bridesmaids were in the full swing of make-up, hair and practicing their dance routine for the coming evening!

Once ready Holly set off to meet her husband-to-be at St. Michael and All Angels Church in Croston for their wedding ceremony. After a beautiful church ceremony their guests lined the path leading to the church, armed with handfuls of confetti, ready to shower the newlyweds.

The wedding reception was in a marquee back at James’ parents home. Slowly but surely the wedding guests arrived and welcomed the new Mr and Mrs as they entered the grounds to cheers, hugs and high fives.

The rest of the day was filled with lots of amazing food, plenty of booze and serious amounts of laughter and dancing.

Lee and Katy's Great Hall at Mains Wedding

Lee and Katy are such a chilled couple. I knew from the first time I met them that their wedding would be relaxed yet packed with drunken fun. They picked the stunning Great Hall at Mains for their wedding reception and the beautiful Singleton Church for the ceremony.

The Great Hall at Mains is one of my local wedding venues and I love shooting there. It's packed with character and is filled with natural light and set in beautiful grounds.

There were so many amazing moments in Lee and Katy's wedding. They had the excellent Paul Guard entertaining guests throughout the drinks reception and wedding breakfast.

Here's a selection of my favourite images from Lee and Katy's wedding at The Great Hall at Mains. Enjoy.

Mark and Emma's Church and Tipi Wedding in Northumberland

I had been looking forward to Mark and Emma's wedding in Northumberland since they booked me to be their wedding photographer. Firstly I had never had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful part of our country and secondly I knew just what Mark and Emma had planned for their big day.

On the morning of the wedding I arrived at the Tipi in Warkworth to meet up with Mark, who was busy putting the finishing touches to the decor  with the help of his groomsmen and some other friends and family. I arrived to torrential rain and thought we were in for a wet one! Luck was on our side and the shower passed quickly.

After leaving Mark I set off to meet up with Emma and her Bridesmaids in the quaint little town of Amble, right on the Northumberland coast. Emma and her girls were in good spirits, ready for the day ahead.

A short drive from Amble and I arrived at St. Pauls Church in Alnwick ready for what was to be a beautiful church ceremony. Once Mark and Emma had managed to free themselves from their guests we made the drive back to Warkworth. Before their arrival at the tipi we nipped off for a quick 10 minutes to Warkworth Hermitage to give the newlyweds a bit of time to themselves.

Tipi weddings are always so much fun and this one was no let up. Over the next few hours Mark, Emma and their guests enjoyed lots of drinking, dancing, food and some brilliant speeches. Once the speeches were done and dusted we nipped off to do a little bit of exploring around Warkworth.

The incredible Vibetown were on duty keeping the dancefloor rocking at night and the legend Adam Wing kept me company for the day creating video magic.

Adam and Hayley's wedding at The Villa Wrea Green

Adam and Hayley were married at the historic St. Chad's church in Poulton-le-Fylde on a ridiculously sunny summers day. From the off everyone was in great spirits. After capturing a few shots of Adam preparing for the day ahead, at his parents house I set off to meet Hayley and her bridesmaids. After a very short drive in to the centre of Poulton, following the sound of the ringing bells, I arrived at St. Chads and awaited the arrival of the Bride. Following their beautiful ceremony Adam and Hayley continued their celebrations at The Villa in Wrea Green. As guests arrived the sunglasses were on and the glasses continually topped up!

I'd class The Villa Wrea Green as one of my local wedding venues and it's always awesome to be back there. It's hard to pick any faults with it as a wedding venue - the location, the setting, the staff and not forgetting the food are all incredible!

Adam and Hayley held their wedding breakfast and evening reception in the Pavilion Marquee. This room is perfect for creating an excellent evening atmosphere.

This was a day filled with lots of happiness, drinking and dancing. The awesome Bamboo Fontaine kept the party going well into the night.

Scarlett and Gareth's Rivington Hall Barn Wedding

I'd only ever heard good things about Rivington Hall Barn so was obviously made up when I finally got the chance to work there and capture Scarlett and Gareth's wedding photography.

The barn is a grade II listed building which is beautifully surrounded by open fields and woodland. The interior of the barn itself is packed with character and original features including Saxon beams.

Rainy English Wedding

Scarlett and Gareth got married in the beautiful English summertime, which here in the North West usually includes the odd downpour. Well we were certainly in for a treat from Mother Nature as she threw plenty of rain at us for the most part of the day. I tell all of my couples that they shouldn't worry about the weather on their wedding day. It is the one element they have literally no control over. If you plan for it (and maybe even expect it a little) then this can avoid disappointment if and when it happens.

If I was going to shoot a rainy wedding I'm glad it was that of Gareth and Scarlett as their relaxed and chilled attitudes and approach to everything made the fact hat it rained no problem at all. They rocked the brollies, Scarlett threw on her Converse and everyone just cracked on and had an awesome day. After the initial downpour after the church service there were plenty of breaks in the rain which allowed us to get out and enjoy the stunning grounds at Rivington Hall Barn. Our patience also paid off and gifted us with a sunset late on the day. Scarlett didn't complain once that her dress got a bit wet.

Summer Wedding at St. Chads Church and Rivington Hall Barn

The morning of the wedding, for me, was spent hanging out with Scarlett and her Bridesmaids while they got themselves ready for the day ahead. After leaving them I shot off to meet Gareth, his Groomsmen and some of their guests at the Old Town Hall in Poulton, just outside St. Chads Church. It was a quick dash, under brollies to the church for their wedding ceremony.

After a beautiful ceremony and a quick visit from their soaking dogs we all head off to Rivington Hall Barn to get started with the celebrations. Gareth and Scarlett arrived ahead of their guests so we nipped off for a quick 10 minutes to get a few portraits while their guests arrived and the rain had stopped.

The rest of the day was packed with drinking, garden games, brilliant speeches and serious amounts of dancing thanks to the brilliant Twenty Somethings party band! I loved being Gareth and Scarlett's Rivington Hall Barn wedding photographer and cannot wait to be back there soon.

Marquee Wedding Photography - Gemma and Michael

Gemma and Michael's Church and Marquee Wedding in Lancashire

I first visited the site for Gemma and Michael's marquee wedding when I met them for their pre-wedding shoot a few months before the big day. As soon as I saw the views and heard the plans for their wedding I knew it was going to be awesome.

Michael and Gemma were married at the stunning St. Annes church in Rossendale before heading off to Gemma's family home in Bacup, where their Marquee Wedding Reception awaited them. Gemma's family own and run a Yorkstone quarry so it seemed fitting to have their wedding at home, with their marquee sat perfectly overlooking the stunning Pennines. Mark Jackson and his team at Passion 4 Events had done such an insanely good job decorating the marquee and making the day run smoothly.

It was a non stop day of shooting for me with plenty of going on. After photographing Michael and his groomsmen early on I head to meet up with Gemma, her family and her bridesmaids where the lovely Makeup by Frankie was getting the girls ready for the day ahead.

After a last minute dash to get Gemma ready in time, and me nearly getting lost on the way to the Church, we arrived at St. Annes Church where Michael and their guests were waiting her arrival. As a surprise for the lovely Bride and Groom Gemma's Dad had arranged an extravagant arrival for them to the Marquee. Unfortunately there was no room for me in the chopper but I raced back to the marquee to witness the reception in full swing.

The rest of the day was filled so much emotion and laughter. There was a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air rapped speech, burger vans and insanely good Pizza, crazy dancing and music and fireworks to round off with.    Needless to say it was a very good day!
