Best of 2019 Weddings

The end of yet another brilliant year in this fascinating and extremely rewarding job. Whenever I speak to people about weddings I always get a feeling of satisfaction and still, 11 years on, feel very privileged to call this my job. Documenting peoples lives and their families is the best part of photographing weddings, in my opinion. Of course creating stunning portraits is so much fun but those photos of family and friends are the memories my couples treasure the most. My main aim this coming year is to keep working hard on the documentary side of wedding photography. Since writing this blog, at the start of 2020, I have picked up a ‘This is Reportage’ award for one of my photographs. TiR is solely for documentary wedding photography and is an international competition with only 4% of entries winning in each round. This was a great start to my 2020, one that I’m hoping can get even better.

2019 was another year photographing some wonderful people in some simply amazing wedding venues. If I photographed your wedding in 2019 then thank you so much for putting your faith and trust in me. Looking forward to 2020 I have so much to be grateful and excited for. If I am photographing your wedding this year then I cannot wait to be a part of it! I have got so many brilliant weddings to look forward to this year.

As always this blog is not to showcase my ‘best of’ 2019 yet more like some of my personal wedding highlights. I have been involved in some brilliant weddings and the photos that follow are just some of my memories of those awesome wedding days.

Thanks 2019. An extremely cracking year.

Are you planning a 2020 or 2021 wedding?? If so I’d love to hear from you.

Eaves Hall Winter Wedding Photography - Sean & Louise

Sean and Louise’s Winter Wedding at Eaves Hall

Eaves Hall is one of those wedding venues that looks incredible no matter what time of year it is. I guess this was one of the main reasons behind why Sean and Louise chose it for their winter wedding.

Sean and Louise lucked out a little as they had the perfect winters day for their wedding at Eaves Hall. Nothing but blues skies as far as the eye could see.

Getting ready at Eaves Hall

Louise and her bridesmaids made the most of the gorgeous venue by getting ready in one of the bridal suits on the morning of the wedding. Louise had the fantastic Sonara Parker MUA on make-up duty and once ready we all set off for the church.

Their ceremony was held at St. Johns Church in Burnley, just a short drive away from the venue. After the service the newlyweds jumped in their wedding car for the drive back over to Eaves Hall.

Wedding Reception at Eaves Hall

Arriving back at Eaves Hall to drinks, Sean, Louise and their guests continued their celebrations in style.

The fun continued well into the night as the beautiful winter light made way for us to get a little more creative with some night time portraits.

A truly lovely couple, this winter wedding at Eaves Hall was a pleasure to be a part of.

If you are planning a wedding at Eaves Hall then I’d love to hear from you!

Browsholme Hall Wedding Photography - Dean & Carla

Dean and Carla’s Wedding at Browsholme Hall

These two beauties were married at the stunning Browsholme Hall in the Ribble Valley. They didn’t let the challenging weather impact the day at all and, if anything, fully embraced everything the day threw at us.

Dean & Carla had some fantastic suppliers to help make their wedding a day to remember including the supremely talented Izzie Walsh and her band, floristry legends Flower Design, the awesome Sonara Parker MUA, the wizzards that are Goodman Green Magic and the lovely Josie and Ian from Big Bear Wedding Films.

This was some wedding. Beautiful, happy people singing and dancing none stop in one of Lancashire’s best wedding venues. It doesn’t get much better really.

If you are planning a wedding at Browsholme Hall then I’d love to hear from you!

Joe and Lucia’s Wedding at The Glass House Staining

I had been looking forward to Joe and Lucia’s wedding at The Glass House for ages. Not only because this lovely couple would be tying the knot but because it would be my very first time shooting at the newly built Glass House in Staining. The Glass House is a new venue built at Staining Lodge golf course. I have shot many weddings at Staining Lodge over the years and had been excited about the Glass House since the concept was first mentioned by the owners. Well needless to say I wasn’t disappointed when the day arrived! With stunning views over rural Lancashire and fantastic architecture The Glass House in Staining is set to become one of the Fylde Coasts premium wedding venues for sure.

Wedding Day at The Glass House

Joe and Lucia got ready separately and I had the pleasure of documenting both of their mornings. From the off everyone was in awesome spirits and truly up for the day ahead! After their beautiful church ceremony at St Kentigerns the newlyweds jumped on to a vintage double decker, with their guests, and headed for The Glass House in Staining where the celebrations could get right under way! The venue looked incredible and the weather was onside too, which always helps!

An overall brilliant day with many memories created and captured.

If you are planning a wedding at The Glass House then I’d love to hear from you!

Rossall School Wedding Photography - James and Ella

James and Ella’s Wedding at Rossall School in Lancashire

James and Ella are childhood sweethearts. They met at Rossall School in Lancashire when they were both pupils there. So it seemed, many years later when James had ‘popped the question’, that there was only one place they had their hearts set on having their wedding day!

Rossall School is situated on the Fylde coast, just outside Blackpool. It is set on a historic 160 acre campus looking out over the picturesque Lancashire coastline.

James and Ella spent their mornings getting ready for the day ahead, separately, at their parents homes. Once ready Ella head to the grounds of Rossall School, in style to meet her husband-to-be. They were married in the church on site at Rossall before carrying on the celebrations in a marquee in the grounds.

There were some fantastic suppliers on hand to make their wedding day a memorable one. The catering was taken care of by the fantastic Twelve Event Management. Wowing the guests during the day with his close-up magic skills was Darren Robinson. On video duty was the legendary Adam Wing and keeping the guests dancing the night away were the fantastic Funtime Frankies.

Lancashire Marquee Wedding - James and Holly

James and Holly’s Marquee Wedding in Lancashire

The sun was certainly shining for James and Holly’s marquee wedding. I arrived with James and his groomsmen, at his parents house in Tarleton, early in the morning. After a substantial breakfast the boys took to the garden for a kick-about and a bit of cricket before heading back inside to make the transformation to Groom and Groomsmen.

A short drive away Holly and her bridesmaids were in the full swing of make-up, hair and practicing their dance routine for the coming evening!

Once ready Holly set off to meet her husband-to-be at St. Michael and All Angels Church in Croston for their wedding ceremony. After a beautiful church ceremony their guests lined the path leading to the church, armed with handfuls of confetti, ready to shower the newlyweds.

The wedding reception was in a marquee back at James’ parents home. Slowly but surely the wedding guests arrived and welcomed the new Mr and Mrs as they entered the grounds to cheers, hugs and high fives.

The rest of the day was filled with lots of amazing food, plenty of booze and serious amounts of laughter and dancing.

Stanley House Wedding - Mat and Sam

Mat and Sam’s Wedding at Stanley House

One of Lancashire’s premier wedding venues, Stanley House, was the perfect setting for the wedding of the wonderful couple that is Mat and Sam.

This boutique country hotel is set in the stunning Ribble Valley. I love shooting weddings here and Mat and Sam’s was no let up.

Mat and Sam came to me shortly after they got engaged. I had shot Sam’s sisters wedding a few years ago so knew the family well and had no doubts that this wedding was going to be as equally epic.

We had a little rain early on but that didn’t stop this beautiful couple from smiling. The rain soon vanished and made way for some calmer weather as the day continued to get better throughout.
